WASHINGTON COUNTY, NY -- The New York State Humane Association in a joint effort with the Hudson Valley Outreach Program and Waggin' Tails Pet Rescue removed eleven cats and kittens who were abandoned on vacant land.

The Humane Society says the abandonment of cats is a common problem in Washington County and many communities throughout New York State.

They report that numerous calls come in regarding abandoned cats living behind shopping centers, in wooded areas and neighborhoods at which point it often times becomes a public health risk.

These cats and kittens are being cared for by Waggin' Tails Pet Rescue.

Any questions and donations for their care can be made by them at 356-1100.
